Surrey County Conservatives will deliver change and renewal (15th April)

The recently elected Leader of Surrey Conservatives, Andrew Povey, will install a new team at County Hall if the Conservatives win a majority on June 4th.

“If we are re-elected to run the Council in June there will be changes to the Executive. We already know that there will be a new Chief Executive, and a new way of running the Council following changes in legislation and this is as good a time as any for a new Leader to make changes to the political management of the County Council.

This will be a new team that brings together fresh ideas and experience and which will be more than capable of bringing about change and renewal.

The names that I would propose would be the following;

o Andrew Povey

o David Hodge

o Mary Angell

o Michael Gosling

o Lynne Hack

o Tim Hall

o Kay Hammond

o Ian Lake

o Peter Martin

o Denise Saliagopoulos

I believe that this would be a strong team that would be good for Surrey. It is a good mix of existing members, previous members and new members and I believe that with their help we can build on the many positive things achieved under the leadership of Nick Skellett and take Surrey forward.

I have spoken to all of those Members who I would not propose to retain on the Executive and they have reiterated their desire to work with myself and colleagues to make Surrey an even better place to live, work and visit than it already is.

Nick Skellett will continue to be Leader of the Council until the Annual Meeting of the Council in June.

The existing Executive Members will continue in their positions until the Annual Meeting of the Council in June.
