Councillor secures over 65% of the vote in by-election (12th May)

Tony pays tribute to his predecessor Roy Taylor

Dr. Andrew Povey, Leader of Surrey County Council, today welcomed newly elected Tony Samuels to the Conservative Group on Surrey County Council.

Tony was previously a Member of Surrey County Council between 1993 and 1997, and I am delighted that he has decided to return. I knew him when he was first here, and I can assure the residents of Walton South & Oatlands that they have a first-rate local representative who will work hard for them and make a worthy successor to Roy Taylor”.

Tony himself added the following, “I am delighted that the residents of Walton South & Oatlands have put their faith in me, and I promise to repay it. Roy Taylor was a great County Councillor, and a very good Leader of Elmbridge Borough Council. I know that I have a hard act to follow, but I’ve got 55 excellent colleagues to help and assist me, and I will ensure that I serve my constituents to the best of my abilities”.
