Nick Skellett CBE (Oxted);

Nick has represented Oxted since 1993, and between 1997 and 2009 he was Leader of Surrey County Council, during which time he was awarded the CBE for Services to Local Government.

He is currently the Chairman of the Tandridge Local Committee and a Surrey County Council representative on the Surrey Police Authority.

In his role as a local member he has been determined to maintain the Greenbelt and maintain the character of the local area whilst encouraging investment and improving local amenities. Alongside other members of the Tandridge Local Committee he has used his Members’ allowance to directly benefit local people, and believes that the Local Committee is an excellent example of local authorities working together for the benefit of local residents.

Nick believes that local transport is of particular importance, and is keen to find a solution to the problems of quarry vehicles in Oxted that doesn’t disadvantage local people or simply create more problems in another part of the local area.

He is always keen to speak to local residents, and will endeavour to get back to people as soon as is possible on all and any issues of local concern.
